What Makes Up an Order Total? Goods, Shipping, Insurance, and Surcharge
Read an order total from the bottom up: product and customization subtotal, shipping, insurance, payment-method surcharge, display currency, and external duties.
A single total is convenient for payment, but it hides several decisions. Reading the components helps you compare quotes, understand why checkout changed after a new shipping method or payment method, and separate platform charges from destination customs costs.
Subtotal: goods and customization
The subtotal covers the products and the accepted customization scope before shipping-related and payment-method charges. For a direct purchase, it reflects the selected SKU, quantity, current tiers, and customer pricing rules. For a custom order, it can include the garment, each print's craft and area, and applicable sample fees.
Each print is priced independently. A front graphic and a chest emblem do not merge into one decoration price simply because they sit on the same garment.
Shipping fee: the selected transport
The shipping fee comes from the signed quote for the order's address, parcel facts, and selected logistics method. Changing the destination, quantity, weight, dimensions, or method can change it.
A shipping quote is not reusable for a different order context. Calculate again after a material change.
Shipping insurance: protection for the journey
The insurance amount is separate from transport. It can be optional below current value and quantity thresholds and required above them. It is decided at order creation and does not change when you select a payment method later.
Payment surcharge: the method-specific addition
A surcharge can apply to the selected payment method. Its base is the subtotal plus shipping plus insurance. Depending on configuration, it can contain percentage and fixed components or be zero.
Because the surcharge is method-specific, the order is first created with the base total. The final selected-method payment intent validates and records the appropriate surcharge and final amount.

Display currency and locked pricing
The currency shown to a customer is the payable currency used for the current page or order. Procurement currencies are internal pricing inputs and are not customer totals. Live catalog views can change with current exchange rates; an accepted quote or order keeps its locked pricing snapshots.
Do not compare an old order amount with today's catalog conversion as if one must be wrong. They were priced at different moments.
What is outside this total
Destination customs duties, import taxes, identification fees, or local clearance charges can be assessed outside the platform's quoted shipping fee and order total. The recipient remains responsible where the Shipping Policy states so.

- Confirm SKU, quantity, and every customization line.
- Check sample fees and quantity-band pricing.
- Confirm the shipping address and selected method.
- Review whether insurance is optional or required.
