Value-Added Services: Packaging Bags, Neck Labels, and Hang Tags

A production batch that arrives as plain garments still needs work before it can sell: bagging, labeling, tagging. Labelix lets you fold that work into the order itself through three value-added services — custom packaging bags, neck labels, and hang tags — produced and applied alongside your garments, so the batch that leaves the warehouse is already retail-ready.

This guide covers what each service is, how to add them to a request, and how they are priced.

The three services

• Packaging bag. Each garment is packed in your custom bag instead of a plain poly bag — the cheapest way to make every unit retail- and unboxing-ready.
• Neck label. Your label at the collar in place of stock tagging, turning the garment into your product. (Why this matters for a brand is covered in Neck Labels and Hang Tags.)
• Hang tag. A tag attached to each garment, carrying your brand card, size marker, or story.

The services are executed through Labelix's fulfillment partner network as part of order processing, and they apply per batch — one design of each selected service across the order.

Adding services to a request

Value-added services are selected inside the customization workbench, in the request details step alongside quantity and quality expectations. For each service you select, you upload one specification document — a PDF, Word, or Excel file (up to 20MB) that packs everything the producer needs: artwork, dimensions, materials, and placement notes. Images and design assets go inside the document rather than as separate uploads, so the specification always travels as one complete file.

You can browse and select services before signing in; the document upload is completed after login, before the request is submitted.

Two boundaries to know up front:

• Bulk orders only. Value-added services are reserved for production-scale orders — currently a minimum of 200 pieces.
• Coverage is per block of quantity. One unit of a service covers up to 200 pieces, so larger orders carry as many units as the quantity requires; this is calculated when the order is created and itemized in the order snapshot.

How the services are priced

A request carrying any value-added service is always quoted manually — there is no automatic matrix price for custom packaging or labeling, because the cost depends on your specification document. The reviewer prices each selected service as a flat amount for the batch, visible as its own line in the published quote. Because the services are part of producing your goods, their fees count into the goods subtotal. That has two knock-on effects worth knowing: the fees are included in the base used for shipping insurance thresholds, and in the base for any payment-method surcharge — the same treatment sample fees receive.

If a quote comes back and you want to change your selections, decline it and re-request: the services list can be revised along with your other requirement details, and the next quote prices the new configuration.

Plan them with the batch, not after it

The economics of labeling and packaging favor doing them during production — applying a neck label to a finished, bagged garment later costs far more than sewing it in on the line.
